Victoria Jarzabkowski, a nutritionist from the Fitness Institute of Texas at the University of Texas, said that onion is a very good source of vitamin C besides it also contains sulfur, flavonoids and phytochemicals.

2. Good for heart health

This has been proven in animal studies which can reduce LDL levels by 20 percent without affecting HDL good cholesterol levels.

According to a 2017 study from the University of Guelph, red onion has the power to fight cancer, because of the high amounts of quercetin and anthocyanins in it.
